Hi everyone!
I'll be applying to Wellesley anyway, but I'm considering applying ED. According to the NPC, their financial aid would make the school extremely affordable. And while I know their aid is excellent, it's significantly more aid than many other schools, so I was wondering: have people found Wellesley's NPC predictions to be close to the amount of aid they actually got (especially for those who applied ED)? Also, does Wellesley tend to keep aid consistent (Assuming family finances stay the same), or do they give less after freshman year?
Thank you!

Do you have a sibling ahead of you in college now?

No, I don’t have any siblings in college

My D started Wellesley before the Net Price Calculator existed (she’s graduated now) but for us, the need based aid from Wellesley was consistent. Her first year was the least expensive, but that’s when our income was the lowest and she also received a lot of outside scholarships when she graduated from high school, which were one-time only awards. In my experience dealing with the Financial Aid office, they did not do any “bait and switch” and worked with us when we had questions/issues.

Our daughter had applied ED in 2013. NPC calculation was within $500. This year it was within $1000 of received aid (although the amount of aid was much different compared to previous year but still in line with our increased income).
I’ve seen some people complaining NPC gives wrong estimations compared to final aid from Wellesley but I think if you put in all your data right (and Wellesley will be checking later on! so don’t forget any savings, etc.) you will get a good estimate of upcoming aid.
