when is Santa Cruz going to show the financial aid to us?

I don’t know if this applies to prospective students, but I was told (as a continuing student) that 2010-2011 financial aid packages won’t be worked out until June. Call the financial aid office to make sure.

What if we wanted financial aid and tuition as a factor in making the college decision? X: So I hope that isn’t true. I thought we find out early April…

Maybe you do. That’s why you should call the financial aid office and find out for sure.

So you should have it before May 1 if you’re a frosh and before June 1 if you’re a transfer as long as you meet the April 15 deadline.

ohh… thanks people. so i should be fine now.

I hope they’re out soon.
So it won’t be available online?

Yes, it will.

Wish it’d come sooner, lol.

I want to officially pick a school already, and finances might play a big role in that >_<

Star`: All that means is your financial aid package is not yet available to view. When it is ready, it will be available to view online.

me too. I wish that financial aid package comes out fast. I want to know how much im paying

Thank you~!

Also, about the Cal Grant Awards mine says:

Does anyone know what they meant for Cal Grant A? It also mentions “SEE CODE #1”. That 10k would really help me…
Does the financial aid and UCSC scholarships award more? Or is the rest at my responsibility?

You want Cal Grant B. Trust me when I say it is worth a lot more after four years. The “See Code #1” just means you have the option to change your Cal Grant from B to Cal Grant A. Do not do this. You will be losing out on over $6,000 in grant money if you do.

Cal Grant A is just the $10,302 for four years and it is only tuition fee assistance. Cal Grant B is “incidental” fee assistance* for four years PLUS the same tuition fee assistance you get from Cal Grant A for your remaining three years.

It seems like you’re missing out on $10,302 for an entire year, but the schools are required to make up the difference the first year in the form of grant money (with the UCs, this is much easier to anticipate due to the Blue&Gold Program which you will definitely be eligible for if you’re eligible for Cal Grant B).

*this amount is given directly to the student and can be used for anything such as housing, food, transportation, books, etc.
