I'm a New York resident and college student. My college tuition is being paid by TAP and college scholarship. I'm also receiving money from FAFSA as well, however the money isn't being used, because I'm covered by other programs. It's my understanding that whatever financial aid that isn't used for tuition, room and boarding, FAFSA will return to the recipient by check. When can I expect this check to come by mail for each semester? Thanks.

Well, first of all FAFSA doesn't award money. FAFSA is a financial aid application form you filled out and it was sent to your college. The financial aid award came from the college. To find out their policy about when, and how extra money gets returned, contact the bursars office and/or the financial aid office at your school and ask them. They should be able to tell you how much overage you have and how they credit your account or refund to you...and when. Each school does this differently so you need to contact YOUR school's bursar's office (they typically handle the money) or finaid office.
