Financial Aid Review

Does anyone know whether every ED/EA applicant’s financial aid package is reviewed, or, perhaps, only those admissions green lights?

Only admits will receive their need-based financial aid package, which does not come with the admissions letter, it comes later. However, all applicants who apply for need-based financial aid will receive communication about their Gibson portal when their financial aid documents make their way to Tulane.

@HazelnutorFootball - are you affiliated with Tulane? I see you have been able to answer a lot of the questions for students. My son is a Freshman there, so just wondering.

Yeah I am a current student and I am an intern in the admissions office! My goal is to provide clarity and help out however I can!

@HazelnutorFootball

Is the Financial Aid estimate for grants from the Net Price Calculator totally the result of financial need. I.e Merit Scholarships would be in addition to this projected financial aid grant?

I heard the EA letters will now go out on 12/15. Any way they will be sent sooner? If they are sent on 12/14 then we have 12/15 and 12/16 to get them otherwise we have to wait until 12/18.

Also, if my local Admissions Officer is now being super communicative with my rising senior via email, is that a positive sign that they got it? They have been having an amazing conversation about his interest and he is getting super optimistic. He really wants to go to Tulane A LOT!

Any accepted ED students receive their financial aid package from Tulane? Our Gibson portal still says “admission decision pending review.”

Thanks for the answers, but, as I was being circumspect, my point was missed.

Received a call from the Fin Aid Ofc two weeks ago seeking clarification of a discrepancy between FAFSA and CSS (was a typo). Anyway, I was wondering, does the fact that they are reviewing the package at all, in sufficient depth to note the typo, mean my kid is in, or, at least, in the running? that is, do they first have admissions eliminate kids, then only review aid packaged for those they might want, or, more limited, for the definite admits?

@Thespiandad I would not read too terribly much into it, but it’s hard not to take it as a good sign…right? I would say that your kid’s application has to have at least have made it past the first round where they discard all the ones that have glaring shortcomings in terms of grades and scores.

thanks - whether it meant anything or not, he was accepted, with a big merit award, so no fin aid…
