1) When a school says it wants "signed" income tax returns, they do mean that the area in the form where it says "sign here", and not somewhere else (like separately or something), right? Am I right to make that assumption?

2) I called U of Chicago today because I'm going to turn in the 2007 tax returns late, and they reminded me to put my name on the "cover/front page". What is the cover page? Do I just write "for <<my name="">>" on the front page or something?</my>

Absent any further directions from the school, I'd send a photocopy of the completed and signed tax returns.

"Cover" in this context refers to a cover letter-- probably a good idea to make sure the docs end up in the right place. Write a short cover letter (ie: Attached please find tax returns for me and my parents for 2007, as requested), explaining what you're submitting and why, and sign it. If you don't submit a cover letter, they want to make sure that your name is at the top of the first page in the package (particularly important, I guess, if you put your parent's tax returns on top).
