Financial Aid SAP Petition

So, I'll be starting my first year at a CC later this month. I was informed through the financial aid office that I didn't meet the SAP guidelines (at the college I'm going to attend you need to complete 67% of the units attempted). I thought that must be wrong! It's my first year! Well after careful thought I remember I signed up for a class in 2008 through my high school which was a CC class. I withdrew from that class because I was working, taking AP classes AND was pregnant, and between all that I had no time. So I have finished 0% of my classes basically.

I went to the financial aid office yesterday and they told me to fill out a petition for reinstatement of financial aid. So my question is, what are my chances of that being approved? Has anyone else filled this petition and been successful?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Yes, it’s likely that since it was just one class and you were in HS, that the petition would be successful. Other posters have been successful with many more dropped or failled courses and have been given a probationary semester with financial aid. It’s a good thing to always be aware of how SAP rules can affect you.

Oh that’s a relief! And I agree too with knowing the SAP rules. Sadly, I didn’t know ANYTHING about this when I signed up for that class in HS. But I learned! Thanks for the feedback :)
