Financial Aid/Scholarships?

So..its kind of an honors program but not really... hmm...if anyone gets any more information about this program I'd really appreciate it if they would post. I'm in the middle of a tough decision between American U( and their honors program) and Pepperdine (Regent Scholars Program). Thanks

btw...i'm at seaver

I'm slightly more optimistic since someone received the letter in Pennsylvania before Oregon (indicating that something might be weird with the postal service) but I'm still not getting my hopes up.

Georgiatwins - If there is a Regents award for Public Policy students, it's something different than what's given to incoming freshman. I remember trying to find info online about the Regents scholarship when I received it, and being unable to come up with anything.

I hate being one of those people that asks for stats, but I would greatly appreciate it if those of you that have been awarded the Regents could post yours I've seen last year's stats, but seeing as this year there was a huge increase in applications and the whole college process was in general more selective, I have no idea if I have a chance at the scholarship.

no problem lucky.

Hey Elys, congrats on the Regents Scholarship and the Honors Program at American. I'm transferring from George Washington University to Pepperdine and I've been living in DC for the past 7 1/2 months. If you're interested I can give you some insight on the DC area from a current student perspective. I'm not a bitter student leaving in anger so I won't give out negative reviews.

Thanks so much Elysium!!!! And I forgot to say before- congrats on Regents and the American Honors Program! You have some really great choices. We have similar classes, ECs, etc. except your ACT composite is 3 points higher than mine (my score was bogged down by an abysmal 23 on science haha- but in the other sections I got 35 on english, 34 reading, and 33 math and I'm pretty sure colleges don't really look at science). Basically, you gave me hope that I still might have a chance and that hopefully the US Postal Service can get its act together.

good luck to you lucky. Yeah, I completely hate standardized tests and am glad i will never have to deal with them again. are any of you all going to the admitted day on saturday?

I'm going!!!! I'm so excited to meet everyone (even if it means sitting on a plane for the majority of the weekend)!

Are you no longer interested in Pepperdine? Why would you ignor the request?

Correct

I had a conversation with some people in the parent association yesterday and they agreed that late financial aid notification made it difficult for parents to make a decisions about visiting the reception as well as concerning enrollment. They will pass the information on. I am sorry it is too late for this year for some of you, but good information for the school to consider.

I did hear that the financial aid packets are being sent early this week.

At the reception this weekend they said that financial aid e-mails are going to be sent out this afternoon and at the very latest tomorrow morning so we should all find out soon!

Anybody?..

When I get home I will try to will myself to describe our Malibu reception experience. It was ggod.

I got my financial aid package!!!!!!!! I am so excited, I am just waiting to talk it over with my dad when he gets home but it looks like Pepperdine might be a real possibility for me now!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know if Pepperdine's financial aid offers stay consistent from year to year (as long as income and everything else stays consistent) or if I should expect something totally different? One of the grants I received is a huge amount and I just want to know if I can count on having that for the years after my freshman year, because it will probably be the deciding factor as to whether or not I can attend Pepperdine. I called the financial aid office but they are closed for the night, I am kind of eager to find out as soon as I can!

Such frustration! After waiting so long for the fin aid info, it turns out that you have to have the mailed acceptance to log in! S never got but did get Regents letter. We'll just have to wait until the a.m. Did everyone else get the mailed letter?

We got the mailed letter but no email. revolcgirl was you notification email or snailmail?

i got a letter in the mail with my wavenet account information but not financial aid information, it said that i should get an email notifying me when they had it ready. i received an email from the financial aid office later this evening that told me to use the account information that i received in the letter to log on to access my financial aid.

Thank You!

revolcgirl, My D was given substantial grants and it is consistent each year. last year it was increased slightly as tuition went up, but that is not always guaranteed. It is an important factor, some schools do not guarantee an offer after the first year, but Pepperdine's is for the 4 years. It is still a good question to ask financial aid, just in case things have changed:)
