Financial Aid Snail Mail Indicating Acceptance?

Hey everybody!
I just received a snail mail from Penn indicating that I have a couple of financial aid documents missing. It is dated 03/16/2017. Since it is so late in the game, and decisions have pretty much been made already, would it be unreasonable to consider the letter as a sign of a possible acceptance? I mean, why waste the postage on a student that is definitely not coming to the school? Also, the fact that it is a snail mail rather than an email seems to be pretty interesting.
Thanks, and any thoughts would be appreciated!

Same exact idea, but what about an email request for more info, instead of snail mail? Got the email today

I’ve seen threads from 2006, 2011, and 2014 that all seem to indicate that anyone who receives a letter at the end of March about missing financial aid documents will be accepted come Ivy Day. I’d love to see whether or not that theory holds up this year! I’m cautiously optimistic.

Same thing happened to me earlier today (snail mail). Being admitted would be a dream come true! I am cautiously optimistic as well!

I got the financial aid letter from Penn also. Usually it’s a good sign since Cornell requested additional financial aid documents from me and then sent me a likely letter

Ok, but if we weren’t missing any financial aid documents, we wouldn’t receive this letter anyway, would we?

@allnighter21 What did it say in your Cornell financial aid request letter? I received something similar twice this month.

@AstralWanderer It wasn’t a letter. I got an update in the portal to submit Parent W2s and 1099s. Same with Harvey Mudd College a couple days before I was admitted.

@allnighter21 They actually sent me an email asking for tax returns and my passport so I guess that is different. BTW why didn’t you send them before?

I did lmao I’m not sure why they didn’t receive them. Penn asked for tax returns since they don’t use IDOC @AstralWanderer

My son received the same snail mail just now. I find it incredible that they’d send a snail mail at this point about some missing financial docs. Princeton sent a similar notification about 3 weeks ago but it was via email. Why UPenn sends such a request NOW and why via snail mail instead of email?

It seems like a ton of people are getting these letters. Maybe it doesnt mean anything. Has anyone heard back from any other ivies or very elite schools yet? Or in your case your son haha @TiggerDad

Hi guys! To those of you who’ve received the letter and are no longer applying for aid — have you emailed the admissions office?

Well, did not get the snail mail. Bye UPenn?

I truly would like to see all of you be admitted. However, if this letter came to our house, I would tell my student not to read anything into it. You will find out when you open your portal on Ivy Day, unless you have a Likely Letter, and they don’t give out many of those.

Very true

Hi guys. My name is Carlos (yes, I’m aware the username is misleading), and I didn’t get this financial aid notification. I did send in all my paperwork on time tho.

The reason I’m worried is that I was born in Mexico (I moved here when I was 4 so I am still a citizen), and so my other colleges have all asked me to confirm my US citizenship when I apply for financial aid.

Did any of you (who live in America) who have received this notification receive it specifically about proof of your citizenship, such as the request of a copy of your passport?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I was not asked to provide my passport. @jacobjohnson0410

Has anyone on the west coast gotten this notice? I know for sure that I’ve not completed all my financial aid documents, and I’m nervous now, as the notice is positively correlated with acceptances. I’m hoping that I’ll be receiving a notice soon? For those of you who have received a notice, where are you guys in the US/ when did you get the snail mail?

Did you apply for Princeton? I know that Princeton send the FA email in early March, but I don’t know wether it’s an indication of acceptance for Princeton. But I think that the snail mail is very likely to be an indication of acceptance since it’s not an email. BTW I just wish you could be admitted by UPenn! :-* @Axlevision22
