Financial aid status change while on the waitlist

Hi,

So I’m an international student who got waitlisted at Brown in the RD round. I applied for financial aid, which i think was a negative factor as brown isnt need blind for int’l students. however, my mum might, in the next week, land a new job where the company would pay for a portion of the education costs - this would significantly increase my expected family contribution. is there a way to let Brown know of this change in my status? i’m planning on emailing them reaffirming my commitment to them - it says on their site that some applicants do this. should i include this as a note in my email? or?

many thanks :)

nish, you can certainly notify Brown of this change, although my guess is that an actual letter from the employer with this information would have more impact. I honestly have no idea how they handle such a big financial change in the middle of the process. And if you still need financial aid even after your mom gets this job, I’m not sure how this will help.

I’d wait until your mom actually has the job before doing anything.

thank you for the advice fireandrain - i definitely plan to wait until my mum has the new job, if she gets it. well, in the fin-aid application we had to put down an amount of money that we would be able to contribute each year, and this amount would pretty much double if we got the job, so i hope it would make a difference. at this point, anything i can do would help anyways

thanks again
