i got a financial aid e-mail from dmouth yesterday and it confused me. all i've handed in so far is the CSS profile.but now they're also requesting signed copies of all the tax returns stuff? was i supposed to already have handed that in for ED? whoops.

o crappp. i just loooked on dartmouth's website

November 20
Deadline for Early Decision Applicants to submit copies of family tax returns and parental W-2's and, if applicable, the Noncustodial Parent PROFILE online and/or the Business/Farm Supplement

no wonder they e-mailed me...what should i do!

get the docs in, quick, but they probably won't have time to complete your finaid review if accepted ED. But, I'm sure they'll process it as soon as possible. However, the holidays are coming up, and finaid staff maybe taking a break.

Ah, crap. Didn't know we had to get our tax returns and shiz in. I guess no financial aid for me...

Wow! I didn't do it either but I didn't get an email!! does that mean that I'm probably rejected if they didn't take the time to email me requesting those documents? Should I send in my tax forms now? I already did the css profile at the same time that I applied.

I didn't send in those forms either!!
Does this disqualify me from admissions/financial aid, or can i send them in now?

kllleader----- i don't think it has anything to do with the admissions office. i think financial aid and admissions are totally separate. they probably just didn't get to going through your financial aid stuff yet or something.

and to everyone.... i guess we should just send them in now? i mean better late than never...

Financial Aid Forms
Required Forms

Here are all the forms, guys. I'm sure we'll get financial aid if we get our stuff late, we just will miss out on getting a preliminary package with our decision.

If you have the 2006 returns available, it wouldn't hurt to send them in - quickly. It might be too late, and FA may not get around to calculating your tentative aid award for ED, but you never know. Regardless of whether you are accepted or deferred, you still will have to send in the 2007 returns, along with everyone applying RD. The actual awards are made based on those 2007 returns, plus the FAFSA and any amendments you've made to the Profile; these early ones are provisional awards, as I understand it.

I am applying ED to Dmouth and I also didn't turn in anything but the CSS Profile and I didn't receive any type of e-mail... why wouldn't they have e-mailed me if they e-mailed someone else in the same situation that applied ED? Do you think they maybe only sent the financial aid people the names of the people who were accepted? ):

Do we just send in the signed tax forms? I dont really understand the IDOC thing they're talking about here...they say we have to send them through this....

oh man so confusing...

I agree with Blue & rainmama as you need to get the forms in to the FA office ASAP (send them overnight mail so that the financial aid office will get them). Even at this late stage of the game, they can pull you a package together within 48 hours (still giving you & your parents enough time to review the package before your commitment deadline).

This package will be their "best estimate" which may be ammended once you file the FAFSA (which cannot be filed until January 1, 2008) and your 2007 tax returns.

Slightly OT,

As freshmen, it is extremely important that you sit down, talk with your parents and encourage them to file their taxes ASAP so that you are able to submit all of your information by the FA deadline (for RD, yes, you must use the IDOC process, which means mailing your stuff to the college board, having them scan in all of your stuff and distributing it to your various schools).

I understand that some families have complicated tax issues, and usually wait unitl April 15 or apply for extentions, but this year has to be the exception ( returning students have the "luxury" of a later deadline, so let your parents know that you will bug them so hard next year).

all the best
