Financial Aid Suspension Appeal

I know the common reasons for an appeal of suspension. I just would like to know if my situation would be an appropriate reason to appeal. My GPA fell below a 2.0 this spring semester due to failing one class and getting a D in another. I have been so upset about my grades. I have dealt with quite a bit this past year including the birth of my daughter and recently learning she has a condition requiring multiple medicine each day and vision impairment. She is still a baby and I stay home and watch her while I have a full time course schedule. It has been difficult as she has grown to guide and help her and focus. She sees three specialists. I just would like to know if this reason is too personal of if it is appropriate. Thanks.

Sorry about any typos I made. :frowning:

Well, I don’t think it too personal, it is just a situation you are in that is mostly factual. You shouldn’t take classes when conditions aren’t right to start and finish them. I think when you appeal it is very important to show steps that you are taking to make sure that your next semester will be successful. And that you have the good judgement to only take what you can handle and complete successfully. Concrete tangible differences will need to be discussed because they can’t give you money to fail classes… And you really can’t talk about the whole last year, but just the semester. I can’t say if this will be successful. Perhaps you can refer to past successful work to show that you can do it. And I don’t know how out of compliance you are with the SAP policies, I guess it is close you are better off.

Hope things are improving soon with your baby. Seems like you need a semester off to get used to the situation/schedule. Maybe appealing then will show you took the time to get your home situation manageable before you continue.

Are your classes all online then?

Yes, all online. And thank you so much!
