I was attending a local CC and my financial aid was suspended because I was not making satisfactory academic progress. I had alot going on in my life at the time. That's not an excuse of course but it contributed. I also lacked the maturity, ambition and study skills to really do well. I took some time off to get myself together, figure out what I want to do, get a stable job, steady place to live, etc. Now I feel like I'm ready to give it another go...but I'm unsure of how to proceed. If I apply to another CC do I need to apply as a transfer student? I don't want financial aid, and I don't want transfer credit. I would prefer to have a clean slate but is that possible?

**I cross posted this in the transfer students forum, because I was unsure of what category it would fall under...sorry if that annoys anyone!

If you apply to another CC, you will have to apply as a transfer student (no such thing as a total clean slate when it comes to college). Congratulations on wanting to do better and taking the steps to do so. Now the down side is that your college transcripts are forever and all you can do now is to move forward and get better grades going forward.

The good thing about transferring is that you don't transfer the GPA, you transfer the credits (however, it does not mean that the grades don't exist as you will always have to submit college transcripts from every school attended). IN this respect, you are getting a clean slate at a new school. Good luck and all the best to you.

That depends on the school. No offense or anything, but it does truly depend on the school.

The cool thing is that the kid has decided to pull herself up by her bootstraps and that is soo well respected by soo many folks :)
