Financial Aid Suspension

I want to know if I go to another school and start over can I get Financial Aid there? I was placed on F/A suspension at my local community college because of my grades. I received an "F" in two classes when I was on Financial aid probation. I was told because of my completion ratio (54%) I was placed on F/A suspension. My overall GPA is 2.7 (it was a 3.6) but I came into some difficult situations one behind the other and failed my last set of classes. I submitted an appeal and I was turned down. So I'm wondering if I just start from scratch at another local CC can I update my FASFA to the new school code and tell them I never attended before.

That’s one quick way to get blackballed and possibly fined for fraud. And if it’s with FAFSA, that’s federal fraud. Translates to 5 years in prison plus up to $20k fine.

No. FAFSA also vets you. Your social security number and DOB will track you for any previous aid. There are ways to get off suspension and you need to follow those procedures. Kelsmom or Sybbie have given the procedures in the past, and perhaps they can reiterate. Discussing this with the financial aid officers at your CC will also give you your options on how to get off suspension.

Your transcript from your old school will automatically follow you as well. How schools handle it may vary, but you don’t get to start over I’m afraid.

If the appeal has been denied, Op needs to find out what s/he needs to do to be reinstated. This may mean that OP may have to work and take classes part-time paying out of pocket until s/he is once again eligible for aid.
