Financial aid taken away

I had received my financial aid and about 2 weeks later I had it taken away because it was a "mistake" according to the school. I was reading the handbook and under it I did qualify and still do. What should I do?

Contact the college. There is absolutely nothing anyone here can do for you. Make an appointment with a financial aid advisor. Take ALL of your documentation with you.

Ask them clearly why you do not qualify for the aid you were originally given.

If I were guessing, I would say you were selected for verification. Something in your verification documents did not align with what you put on your financial aid application forms.

Are you talking about federally funded aid ( like a Pell Grant), or institutional aid (awarded by the college using its own funds)?

Question: Is this aid awarded to everyone who qualifies (like a Pell grant)? Or does qualifying simply put you in the running for a shot at a limited supply of money (institutional aid)?

Call the fin aid office. They are your only source of reliable information in this situation.

Are you US citizen or eligible noncitizen? Are you attending classes?

What does the “handbook” say that qualifies you? Does it mention income and you qualify under that? But is there any consideration of assets/savings as well? perhaps that is why you don’t qualify now.
