Hey everybody! I’m an early action GATech applicant.
I just got an email asking me to fill out some extra forms to verify my financial aid status. Does this mean that the financial aid office is suspicious of anything or is it just randomly based? Does this have any impact whatsoever on my admissions decision? And finally, have any of you guys received this email as well?
We got the email that the financial aid application was incomplete. In addition to FAFSA we needed to complete the few questions on the Buzzport Financial Aid section. It was quick and painless to complete. I assume they notify anyone with incomplete FA info.
The verification process is separate and it is my understanding that not everyone goes through it but we are. It may depend on whether or not you choose to fill your FAFSA using the IRS import tool online (we chose not to). You’ll probably need to order a tax transcript from the IRS and there may be specific firms such as a student non-filer or family size statement form that should be signed and submitted to each college. The verification is required by the govt. so each school you applied to will want some additional documents. I made several copies of my transcript, knowing the schools we haven’t heard back from yet will probably want this as well. I am a parent FYI.
I got this but actually cannot fill out the form. We have to say whether we are taking classes in summer 2018 (how would we know that?) and also whether we are doing co-op and if so which terms. The link to co-op, presumably where there would be some explanation of what that is, is broken. How did you guys answer this question? Should we just check all of the boxes, just in case? Or is there some better strategy?
