Financial Aid Waiting List (Transfer)

So i just found out that I've been placed on waiting list for any financial support because my financial documents for 2007 arrived past the deadline (not laziness, the tax return hadn't arrived yet- I sent my 2006 instead).

Needless to say that this is really a cold-sweat situation. If I don't get aid, I can't attend (one year's full tuition is literally 4x my family's household income). Does anyone have any information regarding the grant's waiting list policy for transfers....chances of getting off it....stories....etc. Anything basically.

It's really weird to think that the admissions letter really doesn't mean all that much when all the factors are considered. sigh

I am in a similar situation and it is definitely not a fun circumstance to be in. I think it comes down to miracles now.

Do you have an alternative to Columbia, undisclosed?

Nope. Staying where i am (i.e. hell) or bank loan…sigh.

What do you know about the situation heartofthecity? What did they tell you?

From what I understand, some students decide not to enroll over the course of the summer. The students who choose to forfeit their spot will subsequently forfeit any Columbia Grant money awarded to them. That money would flow back through the University and (hopefully?) trickle down to us on the waitlist.

I have been losing sleep over this decision and my health has weakened. It is absolutely a nasty truth. It sucks that there’s only two options: A) be in debt for 15+ years or B) give up your dream school.

In the long run I’m sure it pays for itself I’m sure…

I just want to know if by not having aid for your first year there you ‘forfeit’ any financial aid in the coming years? I still have 2 years to go after that one.
