Does anybody know of merit scholarships that are available to current students? How can we find this information?

When my daughter was visiting Ohio State's Engineering dept., they told us there were departmental merit scholarships available for sophomores thru seniors, more than for freshmen.

I'd ask around at Pitt's School of Engineering.

Thanks chrisd. I was looking around the website, but didn't find anything on the subject. So far, DS has all A's (knock on wood!). I guess alot of kids do, though. I wonder if there are some private scholarships that apply to college students? I got alot of inapplicable ones from that online scholarship search.

How about SAE, Society of Automotive Engineers? Any sort of professional group that supports an area your son may be interested or excell in is a good place to check.

Also, if there's any sort of professional engineers' society in your area, check w/ them. My D received a scholarship as part of the local engineers' "E Week," which I think is a nat'l engineers' event in March.

Great ideas, I'll definitely check into it and also have my son check in the engineering office at school.
