Financial aid?

Does anyone have an idea of when we will receive our financial aid packages I know UConn is running late with everything. Thank you.

I was wondering the same thing. I believe the website says March 2011 - April 2011? Hopefully soon. UConn is my son’s #1 choice so far!

Just logged in and saw that the Financial Aid section has been update to say the following. Of course the ‘Continue’ button does not appear so our information is not available at this time. Oh well, one step closer I guess!

…

FAFSA Information

The information in this section indicates your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) status and informs you if the FAFSA was received by UConn’s on-time deadline.

NOTE: If the Continue button appears at the bottom of this page, you can proceed to view your financial aid awards for this aid year. If the Continue button does not appear, your information is not available at this time.

saw on a Syracuse forum that someone did hear from Uconn financial aid, and got 1/2 tuition. We are still waiting to hear…

Has anyone gotten an update from UCONN financial aid office as to when aid decisions are being released? We were amongst the lucky 30% chosen for verification by FAFSA, but they have already received the verified documents and we sit waiting for our aid package ( not scholarship, but need based aid).

We are in the same situation. Thay asked for verification, sent it, and all is complete. Still no word. UConn is one of the last ones for my D to hear about financial aid packages from, except for one state school (but at least they gave us a release date).

They never asked me for verification? But yea, I’m getting a bit impatient now. I submitted my FAFSA over 2 months ago and would really like to know my aid package!

My D was accepted and has already sent in her deposit for Fall 2011. Does she have a chance of getting Financial Aid? She sent in her FAFSA about 2 months ago.

I was wondering if an email is received when a decision has been made.

Official Announcement
Dear Students:

We are writing to offer some detail as to the process by which you will ultimately be made aware of your financial aid award from the University of Connecticut for the upcoming academic year.

Typically, the Office of Student Financial Aid Services releases financial aid awards (i.e. packages) to incoming students in early to mid March (April for continuing students) for the following fall and spring semesters. This year, we anticipate that timeline to be slightly delayed for two important reasons, which are briefly outlined as follows:

Connecticut State Budget: In February, Governor Malloy revealed his two-year budget proposal to both the Connecticut General Assembly and the public at large. The figures in the state budget proposal help determine the university’s operating budget, which in turn helps the university’s Board of Trustees to establish annual tuition and fee rates. These tuition and fee rates are essential in determining individual student financial aid packages. Our expectation is that while the rates should be defined soon, their arrival will be delayed slightly when compared to past budget cycles.

Federal Pell Grant: There are currently two items; President Obama’s 2012 budget proposal as well as a bill currently being considered by the United States Senate, that can potentially affect (i.e. decrease) Federal Pell Grant eligibility and access for individual students during the upcoming academic year.

We take very seriously our responsibility in accurately depicting to you and your family the true cost of attending the University of Connecticut. While the aforementioned factors represent obstacles towards that end, please know that we are diligently working to provide you with the information you need to make informed financial decisions as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid Services. Thank you.

Sincerely,

So I guess they’re still working on packages.
