financial aid

how come i still have to pay $9,400 for the net cost, even if i got the gold oppurtunity packet thingy...??

i tot it said to cover everything...

It doesn’t cover everything

do you think $9,400 is my housing cost?

i cant believe you are complaining about 9000$…i have to pay 51g’s because the financial aid system is so f’ed up. where do u live and whats ur household income…i need some justification for this

@UC: it pays for your tuition, I believe. That still leaves housing costs.

@dtc: this is because we are in state students. The tuition is only $11,300 for instate, and low income kids get a cal grant(from California) that covers all the tuition, pell grants, and a ucsd grant. I’d say his income is around $20,000, or even less.

$9k with 0 EFC is the best you can do under pure need-based UC financial aid system. It consists of $5-6k of loans and $3-4k of workstudy. Some may get $1k or so of additional merit grant, but that’s it.

my parents make 24k a year. and i am instate student.
