Financial Aid

Has anyone gotten their financial aid amount yet?

Nope. I didn’t get the acceptance packet either… I just know from online (which defeated the entire purpose of waiting 4 days!!! :|)

Got accepted, but no finacial aid info.

I got the fat letter in the mail, but it doesn’t include a financial aid letter.

GF and Bmittman…
If your fat package doesn’t have the fin aid award and also if your admissions decision is online but the financial aid is not online, please call admissions tomorrow.

Something has delayed your package and you want to find out what it is ASAP to make the correction.

Did you complete the FAFSA, CSS Profile and also send all the required documents to IDOC as requested? How about noncustodial info (if that applies)?

Don’t wait for it to arrive-- make sure you can figure out if something needs correcting in your file.

Congrats on your acceptances!

Thanks mom2012and14, my financial aid information hasn’t come with my package or is available online. I submitted everything (FAFSA, CSS, IDOC). Will call tomorrow. Thanks!

Speechless, this happened the past two years …people posted on CC. It was easy to resolve-- seems materials just were misplaced or files somehow didn’t pass to the financial aid committee.

If you see all those documents as received at the bottom of the whereamipage under financial info, you’re good and it will be correctly quickly.

Let us know if the call resolved the worry – that will be helpful to others in the same situation.
Personally, I think having a parent deal with financials is an acceptable reason to have a parent call and no one would think any less of the student.

Also didn’t receive it yet, however the acceptance envelope clearly states that financial aid is mailed within a few days of receiving the decision. I haven’t seen anyone on this forum report receiving financial info, though I may be wrong.

That’s interesting-- b/c in years past, they arrived together and were posted online at the same time. The lack of financial aid was often behind the delay in the entire notification process. It may be the case this year they elected to get the admission decisions out and if the letters say it’s coming in a few days, then there’s been a change to the way it’s being done. If the letter says a few more days-- then I say a week is reasonable- in which case, end of week sounds reasonable to phone.
I recall on the WhereAmI page a second table appears under admissions documents sent and received =-- this entitled “financial documents sent” and “financial documents received”. Is that the case this year-- if so, make sure you see all the documents you believe you’ve sent. I recall the FAFSA was first listed under an admission document- but at some point in the process it shifted to the FInancial table and was displaying there as were the financial awards my kids received.

From the undergraduate Admission and financial Aid FAQ page (<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University)-”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University)-

“When do I know if I’ve received financial assistance?
If you apply for financial assistance and you’re admitted, or put on the waitlist, to the university, you’ll receive a financial aid notification letter shortly after you receive your letter of admission. The financial aid letter will state the dollar value of any assistance you may be receiving from Carnegie Mellon, the Federal Government and any State Governments.”

I don’t think we should be worrying for at least a few more days.
