Has anyone who's parents make more than 100+ gotten any good aid? besides loans & workstudy?

We didn’t last year. Only loans were offered.

What is your EFC?

My EFC was like 10,500+ and they gave me 44K for the year.

30 thousand in scholarships and awards

The rest was a combination of Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, and Work study.

Compared to what I got from other schools, I was pretty happy with GW FA!

What was your GPA? and could you please give me a link so I can figure out my EFC please? and how does EFC work?

and wow 44k that is awesome

ellomeno

See the following website for EFC info. Also, your FAFSA should have already told you this at the very top of the SAR report they send after you submit the FAFSA.

[FinAid | Calculators | Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and Financial Aid](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Calculator - Finaid)

Each student’s FA “package” will vary as you are probably already aware from other posts. So, it’s really hard to predict yours. GW gives FA BOTH “Need-based” and "Merit-based. They make a package of both. They usually try and meet your “Need” which is the COA (Cost of Attendance) - EFC.

If you have good SAT’s/GPA you’re likely to receive an Academic Scholarship renewable for 5 years. Amounts vary but can be as high as 30-35K/yr. Have to keep your GPA > 3.0.

There are also Grants - free money! then Loans, Work study.

Just because a family makes > 100K/yr doesn’t mean you won’t receive any of these. It comes down to your grades/EFC. You know your Grades/Test Scores - calculate your EFC and then your “Need” and you’ll have a good idea where things stand. The awarding of scholarships, however, is variable each year in terms of minimum GPA/SAT’s depending on the strength of the class and money available.

My “S” received 30K/yr “Free Money” in scholarshps/Grants and our income is above the 100K threshold you mentioned. SAT’s 2100, GPA 3.87, 7AP’s.

Good luck

thanks CJ , I am late on my CSS profile so I am doing it now… I have a 3.5 overall gpa and a transfer student so I don’t know if I would get any merit aid but I will fill out my css and have it sent and see what happens! does the school determine fin aid or fasfa?

ellomeno

GW ultimately determines the amount and type of FA awarded. The FAFSA/CSS Profile are used by them for calculations though.

CJ

oh I see, well hopefully GW gives me some was your S a transfer? or first year student?
