Financial Aid

Hello! I was just wondering if BC is stingy when it comes to financial aid? Because online it says that the needs are 100% met, but other friends are telling me that they didn’t receive much? Thank you!

It’s all relative.

BC is not as generous as the HYPSM, but then the other Ivies aren’t either. BC is not as generous as the non-HYP Ivies. BC is not as generous as Vandy/Emory. A key differentiator for BC is home equity, which the Ivies tend to discount.

BC doesn’t offer merit scholarships, so may gets beat by those schools too. But a student with a lot of financial need can do better at BC than a merit aid school that does not meet full need. A $25k annual scholarship to Miami or George Washington is great, but not of much help if your need is $40k. OTOH, BC meets full need, as they define it, which is better than other similarly-ranked, need-only schools. Wake Forest meets full need with additional, private loans for example. NYU & Carnegie Mellon don’t meet full need. Tufts is need-aware in admissions.

Awesome! Thank you so much!
