The deadline's today, apparently, and I won't be able to mail my 2010 tax returns until tomorrow. Are my chances of getting aid jeopardized?

I know that the website states that today is the financial aid deadline, but I don’t believe anything is due today. Pomona’s Financial Aid brochure, Affordable Excellence, provides detailed information for applying for aid and states that the Profile and 2010 tax returns are due February 1. I could not find a date for the FAFSA, but find it difficult to believe that it is required today, since it only became available yesterday.

Edit: Did you apply EDII or RD. If you applied EDII, then you are correct that the deadline is today. Can you fax them a copy?

The Pomona website needs to update all their links… On one page, an old brochure is linked, while on another, a 2011-12 brochure is linked. I think this is the accurate brochure: http://www.pomona.edu/administration/financial-aid/forms/12-13-affordable-excellence.pdf

The January 2 deadline, I’m assuming, refers only to the FAFSA & CSS PROFILE. The 2010 tax return can be mailed by February, and the IDOC isn’t even available until February. Nearly had a heart attack.

Thank you for replying :)

Oh, and yes, I applied RD. EDII deadlines are today, I believe.

The brochure you reference is the one I was citing and it states that the 2010 tax returns are due today if you applied EDII and due Feb 1 if you applied RD.

I am also wondering about this. I’m applying RD and didn’t realize that financial aid info was due on the 2nd until I checked today. But seeing as the FAFSA was released on Jan 1st, it just doesn’t seem likely that it would be due so soon. I plan on calling Pomona on Monday, but I just want to know the actual deadline, hoping that I didn’t miss it.

According the “Affordable Excellence” brochure they sent us (which is even different than the one on the link above), the RD Financial Aid deadline for FAFSA, PROFILE, and the 2010 returns is Feb. 1. The 2011 returns need to be sent to IDOC by March 1.

So we don’t submit the 2011 returns to them, but to College Board?

That’s correct. And, that includes all schedules and W2s for you and your parents, unless a return won’t be filed. If that’s the case you send the Statement of Non-filing Status directly to the college.

Did anyone call and confirm that it is due Feb 1?

Not a phone call, but I did email them and got a reply that the due date is Feb. 1.

Yes, I called just to double check, and the person said that the due date was Feb. 1.

Thank goodness!
