Financial Aid

Is there any way to find out our aid packages online, or do we have to wait for the letter in snail mail (whenever that comes)?

Yeah, I saw my aid package at the financial aid website. Go here: https://finaid.brown.edu/finawards/

how much do these estimated financial aid sheets change in the actual package?

How much did you receive in financial aid compared to your family's income? Our expected family contribution is around a third of our income--it seems outrageous. Is anyone else finding themselves in the same situation?

if EFC stands for "expected family contribution" than mine is also as close to a 1/3 as it gets.

Our EFC was about 15% of our income - I was pretty surprised and relieved at the same time.

Our EFC is a little over a 3rd of our income. This is probably the max!

Does anyone know how Brown takes the FAFSA into account? I filled out the CSS profile in November and my EFC according to that was $35,000. However, the EFC determined by the FAFSA was only $4,015. Any idea how that's going to affect my financial aid award, if at all?

It won't affect it. They only use FAFSA if it is higher than PROFILE (as it was for me) due to federal regulations
