I am a community college student who is considering transferring to Chicago.

How does Chicago's financial aid compare to that of other elite schools?

Does Chicago use financial status in making admissions decisions? Do other elite schools?

I will be over age 25 when I apply to Chicago. This means that I do not need to list my parents on the FAFSA forums. Does this mean that I'll receive aid based solely on my own work income and savings?

Aid at UChicago can be sort of bipolar, especially with the middle class. The only way to know for sure is to apply, be accepted, and compare the financial aid packages. (Application fees can of course be waived if that’s an issue for you; don’t let things you hear about our aid sway your decision to apply.)

UChicago is need-blind for domestic applicants.

To my knowledge, this makes you an independent student, meaning Chicago would make their financial decision based on your financial information only. It’d be best to email the financial aid office with specifics, however.

Best of luck!
