Financial Aid...?

So I was accepted for computer science, but I still haven't received my financial aid offer yet. However, I used the calculator at: http://www.osfa.illinois.edu/aid/NPC/NPC.asp

It seems that despite an EFC of only about $5800, I'll still end up having to pay $43,000. That is a ridiculous amount, and I wanted to ask whether this calculator is accurate or not? Does the university give more or less aid than this?

Also, any idea when financial aid offers are given out? I submitted my FAFSA on March 1st.

Hi - looks like we are in the same boat. Out EFC is around $9500. Basically we were offered loans on the $43,000 - the largest $17,000 per semester that would be a 7.5% interest…Not sure where to go with this…

are you guys in-state? i live in-state&&uiuc is a big joke to me for FA. the state of illinois is like totally broke&& left me w/$20,000 in loans for engineering. i don’t care if urbana is higher ranked than the school im going to, FA was horrible.

yah in state students are lucky to get any financial aid from illinois, if you are out of state like you wont get anything (pretty much). illinois is very very very broke, im pretty sure our state economy is one of the worst in the nation. Like my efc is zero and i am instate and i recieved no financial aid, besides nationally qualifying for the pell grant
