I haven't actually been admitted yet. But, has anyone who has, received financial aid? Also, my financial aid tab updated so now it has "my worksheet" and "my financing" and "myplan summary". This outlines the cost of tuition, but it says financial aid: 0. Does this mean I have been admitted? Also, is LMU typically generous with aid (EFC 0)?

I was just accepted this afternoon and I don’t really understand the aid page. But I dont think it is updated with anything. I do have federal aid, but it is not listed on there. Mine says zero right now as well. But everything on there looks more like some kind of calculator than it does a list of the grants and aid you got. So I don’t know, but I don’t think they’ve updated it for everyone yet.

I did the net price calculator online and they gave me a pretty generous estimate, but mine also says zero. I’m scared, but I’m hoping that they haven’t updated anyone’s yet

My financial aid says zero also and I was admitted a week ago. I saw of their financial aid page that the FA decisions come through the mail 2-4 weeks after the acceptance letter. So I hope I’ll get something then…

I was horrified seeing a big fat “0” next to financial aid! I was under the impression they’d post it today…maybe they’ll update it this weekend? or it’ll come in the mail soon?

Don’t panic yet, our experience is that their aid sites don’t sync well with each other and are often late. PROWL is where the real answers show up.

Does anyone know how LMU calculates their EFC? Because my FAFSA determined EFC is 15,000, but LMU expects me to pay 28,000 which just isn’t feasible because my sister is going to be in college next year too.

Same problem here. EFC is 17300, but LMU expects us to pay $32,000 + $7,500 in loans (total of $39,500.) That’s half of our yearly family income!

MEOW and Kumo, don’t get me wrong, I hope you can work the financing if LMU is really where you want your kids want to be. But, “LMU expects me to pay . . .”? Really? LMU doesn’t expect anyone to pay more than they can afford. They expect those who accept and attend, to pay what is required of them. But, for most, it’s not a free ride, the school needs to be funded. Who IS going to pay? Someone has to. My DW and I are currently paying full boat for our D. If my S decides on LMU, LMU “expects” us to pay another $35K for him to attend. We have to decide if we can afford it. Financial aid is just that, aid. Some is “free” money, some is not. YOU have to decide the affordability given what they’ve offered. That’s not LMU’s responsibility.

I just got an email that I received the Arrupe scholarship ($12,500) but it’s not enough… and since I’m an international student, I can’t get any financial aid… Do you think I can appeal my award? :(
