No problem. I’ve read many of your posts, and you give many here good advice. Most people in my area don’t know much about Clemson, and the more I learned the more impressed I became. And we were there last Thursday for a tour, and the weather was perfect.

WOW…So…yes Clemson is an awesome school!! But do we know when the financial aid awards are really going to come out?? Late April is really cutting it close as some schools want your housing $ etc…prior to the May 1 date.

I think every school has the May 1st deadline. I’m unaware of any school that forces you to decide before that. Is that the case for any of your schools?

PS: someone just brought this up but you can check if it’s been posted online: [Check my aid status online : Clemson University](<a href=“Check Your Financial Aid Status in iROAR | Clemson University, South Carolina”>Check Your Financial Aid Status in iROAR | Clemson University, South Carolina)

My son does have an award letter posted on line. Does anyone know if all of the restricted scholarships have been awarded? His letter shows his recruiting scholarship and a Stafford Loan opportunity. We were really hoping for some additional scholarships, as the OOS tuition is quite expensive. Thanks.

Not sure if all the restricted scholarships have been rewarded but most likely what is posted online is pretty similar if not the final offer. Keep checking online

found it. not much:(. not sure what i’m gonna do

start looking for 3rd party scholarships if they are still out there. Here are some links that might help you out with that: [Outside Scholarship Searches : Clemson University](<a href=“Types of Aid - Student Financial Aid | Clemson University”>Types of Aid - Student Financial Aid | Clemson University)

I did talk to the financial aid office today. There is still the possibility to receive additional scholarships, although the funding is very tight and most additional funds, if any, will be relatively small. Now we just need to decide if it is worth the extra $10K per year for Clemson vs. GA Tech.

jeffdi89, what is your major?

My son is planning on Civil Engineering. I know on the surface, it would seem that Ga Tech would be the logical choice, but he has really fallen in love with Clemson. He has been accepted into Calhoun and we feel that the opportunity in the Honors program would be nearly as good as Ga Tech. It’s just that with the Hope Scholarship, it is difficult for Clemson to compete financially.

I’m in the civil engineering department and it’s a great program (I’ve really been challenged! lots of hard work…haha) and being in the honors program is a big plus but in this scenario you might have to consider GT because that’s what is best for you financially. If you can pay the extra $40 K+ , fantastic, keep Clemson in your considerations! If you can’t and you are going to make up the difference with loans or you feel this is going to be a huge financial burden on your family, I would say that it is definitely not worth going to Clemson.

Let me know if I can answer any of your questions about Clemson or the CE department! Best of luck with your decision!
