Financial Aid ):

^^^

That’s why I asked the question. How does one claim to be a “permanent US resident” while living in another country??

And, the idea that a green-card resident should get fed aid is that they LIVE HERE and pay taxes here. Living in another country wouldn’t seem to fit that. I know that for citizens it is different.

I’m sorry for all your time I’ve wasted, as I’ve realized that in order for anyone to help me with my situation they have to understand the full scope of it and I’m not going to reveal everything on CC, for reasons everyone would agree with. Nevertheless, you have answered many of my questions and I’ve found this to be very helpful. It is a very complicated situation and I’ve stated all of it in my financial aid applications. There is nothing that “doesn’t seem right here,” and if something ‘seems’ wrong, it’s because I haven’t explained everything.

Regarding my mother’s previous employer. We just have a very close relationship with them, and there are many great people in this world.

Thank you so much for all your thoughtful answers, and for making CC a helpful forum.

Question: How do you quote things? I can’t seem to figure it out.

This is how to quote:

, but remove the stars.

By the way, I don’t think anyone will be able to help you with your situation, because in order for college to expect you to pay 20K per year with zero income, your mom should have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of assets.

May I ask how much is “A LOT”? Thanks!

Parental assets are generally assessed at 5.6% of total so $20K would mean assets of >$350K.
