Financial Aid

For continuing students, the FA deadline is April. Is there any advantage to sending the form in early?

Well…in any event what they want is likely your tax returns which wont be done until then anyway…and I dont think the forms are even available for FAFSA and CSS until December.

While the general rule is the early bird gets the worm, in the case of continuing students, unless you show extraordinary circumstances requiring additional aid, you will most likely get the same package all over again…and have to suck up the increase in tuition. So in that sense it does you no good. Further, they often delay informing continuing students what their package is until VERY late, so they focus on the incoming freshmen first.

Bottom line? I dont think it helps you much unless you have a special situation where circumstances have changed.

Fordham offers a stellar education. Unfortunately, its becoming one of the most expensive schools in the nation and it puts enormous pressures on families (who don’t make a ton of money on wallstreet or in media etc.)

Good luck.

Wanna get a sick stomach? Fordham tuition in the 70’s was somewhere under 3k a year. Its now TEN TIMES that amount…and more.

Thanks, that’s very helpful info, Sovereign.

I did have a question on financial aid — on the web site it looks like after Freshman year you only have to submit FAFSA. Profile is only for new students or first time Fordham grant appliers… Is this correct?
Thanks

PLEASE send it in early. I’ve had issues in the past with the Financial Aid office losing documents…it’s best to do things early in case issues arise.
