Financial Aid

I applied for SCEA and I'm filling out the CSS Profile with my parents right now. Should I wait until I get admitted (if I even do) before sending in tax returns?

How does sending tax returns even work? My parents are very worried that their information will be insecure.

If you would like to receive an estimated financial aid package with your SCEA acceptance, then yes you should send Yale Financial Aid a copy of your (and your parents’) 2011 tax return and all W-2’s. You don’t have to; you can wait until you find out if you are accepted. In which case, you would send Yale your (and your parents’) 2012 tax return and all W-2’s through the CSS Profile’s IDOC service.

Could I also wait to submit my CSS then?

Yes, you could also wait on the CSS Profile, as well. If you get accepted SCEA, you would not get an estimated financial aid award with your acceptance letter in December, but could submit the Profile in January and receive your award notice in April/May.

Okay, thank you!
