Financial aid?

Hey, I'm a UF hopeful. The thing I was wondering about is why people often say UF doesn't give a lot of aid. I have seen a lot of times that UF is not generous because "the best students go there anyway" (which I can kind of believe lol). But on the other hand, on collegeboard it says the average indebtedness of graduates is like 16/17k, way lower than average. Anyone have a reason for why that is?

They say UF doesn’t give a lot of merit aid, not financial aid.

The financial aid is mostly from the government, through the FAFSA. So it really doesn’t have anything to do with UF. But no, UF does not give a lot of merit aid.

To answer your question, why doesn’t UFL provide as much financial assistance as compared to the other state supported schools----
Simple answer-----
Supply and demand; essentially every student offered admission @ UFL would rather attend UFL with minimal financial assistance versus attending another state supported school with a greater financial package.
