I have gotten the same email once a day for three days straight now saying that my financial aid stuff is being reviewed. I applied well before the deadline and I'm getting anxious because, obviously, this is a very important step in the decision-making process.

Anywho, just curious, has anyone received his/her financial aid info yet?? And is everybody getting this same email over and over again? lol

I didn’t get an email, but my info is out now. I didn’t turn my CSS Profile on time, but I suspect that it won’t make a difference with a FAFSA EFC of 86k…

wow, really? I haven’t had any document requests or anything… hopefully I will get my info today. Wait, is the office even open on Saturdays? Hopefully by Monday then… urgh!

I got the same type of e-mail twice in a row too. don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Just gotta wait I suppose!

In the past, financial aid packages were posted around April 7th to 10th - try to be patient!!! Remember, you have until May 1st to make a commitment deposit and there is no advantage* to making the commitment deposit earlier. Sit back, relax, and just enjoy the feeling of being admitted for a bit and then in Mid-April put all your offers on the table and spend a good week weighing which of the affordable options is best for you. Take your TIME.

*At USC you can make your housing deposit NOW without committing to attend for an approximate $40 (non-refundable) deposit, and if you are considering USC I urge you to do so in order to get in line for your preferred housing option. You do not need to know what housing option you want right now - you can change it in late April. Make random choices now to get in line and finalize them later if you decide to attend USC.

I submitted my housing deposit a few weeks ago! I chose Birnkrant, Parkside, and Fleur but now I’m hearing that Parkside and Fleur maybe weren’t the best decisions? I just really want to stay in Birnkrant so I hope I get the spot!

I think you have a list of wonderful options, but you can log into your housing account and change them at any time until May. The thing that counts is the day/time you submitted the housing deposit in terms of your priority. FWIW, my daughter stayed in Parkside IRC in a 7 person, 2-bath suite freshman year and loved it (especially the maid service in the bathrooms ). You will be on a vibrant, active, surprisingly compact campus where you will have ample opportunity to socialize regardless of your housing option. Enjoy!

Hi @alamemom, do they tell you when they are done with your financial awards? If I called would they be able to say if what we have posted is it? Some have received University or Dean’s scholarships, so are those all out that at this point? It would help with our process if we know they are done with those…thanks.

I received my financial aid information two days ago and was notified via email. The subject line was “2013-2014 Award Information”. The email also said a hard copy would be sent by regular mail. I really only decided on USC after the financial aid (couldn’t afford it otherwise), so best of luck to you guys^^

Is anyone else still waiting for aid? Our dilemma is that we need to visit before accepting since my daughter has not been to campus, but we are on the east coast - so it takes a bit of advance planning. We had actually planned to visit many schools over April school vacation, but the delay on receiving financial packages has really thrown a wrench into our plans…

Due to the concerns posted here I contacted two different schools at SC on Friday. Both of those schools still had not sent out their financial aid packages. Please be patient. When your package is complete it will state IN WRITING.

@alamemom,Georgia Girl - As internationals do not qualify for financial aid we have to wait for scholarships- if awarded. when do you think we would be informed?

The financial aid status check box says - ACTION REQUIRED ! ( with an exclamation mark)

I tried calling financial aid office but they say nothing is pending !

when USC says more than 60 % admits financial needs are met/fulfilled …does it include internationals?

If awarded a scholarship (there are still University Scholarships, named scholarships and departmental awards that may be awarded which I have seen in amounts from about $2,000/year to $5,000/year) you will receive both an email notification that says a change has been made to your aid and in a letter in the mail. Some may have already arrived and I have seen these arrive as late as April 27.

As far as the 60% figure, the freshman profile says,
International students may be among the 30% figure stated as receiving merit aid as they ARE eligible for merit aid at USC.

As I am sure you are aware, international students are not eligible for need-based aid and must provide verification that they have sufficient funds for the entire first year at USC. Therefore, by definition, they have no “need” to meet.

just realized I wrote “fleur” haha.

the student who answers questions on the USC admits facebook page said that everybody’s package would be done by last friday and to call them if your package isn’t ready. so I called the financial aid office on Friday and they said that mine would be done thursday, at the earliest… For reference, I’ve had all of stuff in since January!

GOT IT TODAY! haha

And???
ten characters

I haven’t gotten any letter, just a few emails. I called the FA office today, and they said my package was complete.

my financial aid package was really good. they gave me a grant to cover the other half of my tuition, so all I’ll be paying for is housing/meal plan! :)
