Financial Aid

Was the financial aid info in your welcome/admission packet that arrived last week? We didn't have anything at all. Didn't know if that meant we didn't get anything!?!

Financial aid package comes separately

We kept on waiting for something in the mail, but finally went on-line. I don’t know whether you’ll ever get anything in the mail. The award is on GWeb. They don’t say what your calculated need is, though, so you can’t tell whether you’ve been gapped. However, COA is spelled out, as is the award, so you can figure out how much you’ll have to pay.

Thanks. This is the last school to notify us. It is not really in the running- but didn’t want to give up on it until we knew.
I couldn’t find anything online except merit aid.

It is not in the same place as the acceptance. That’s where we found the merit money. You have to look under a financial aid tab to find the entire package. I also was able to speak to a live human being to ask a question yesterday.

I’m STILL waiting for financial aid info from GW.

I found out about and started checking GWeb last Friday - it says, “no award information is available for you at this time…” - and called the FinAid office yesterday and was told, “everything in your file is fine and was submitted on time, but there are still several batches of applications we haven’t processed yet; please call back on Friday (the 12th) if we haven’t emailed you by then.”

I wonder how many applicants they’re going to lose from these delays. For me, GW is (was) a top 3 choice, but now I will be unable to attend a re-visit day in April…

I visited yesterday, and the financial aid office was able to give me my estimated package (they said the separate package will come in around Thursday).

how do you get the GWID. I don’t know what the net ID is, and there is no option to enter my SSN and DOB to find my GWID?

my GWID was on the original “thank you for applying to GW” email confirming that my application was received back in November, and again on the “check your application status tonight” email on March 22. I think those are the only two places I’ve seen my GWID.

Go to banweb.gwu.edu

You will find a place to enter your login information. You should be able to find your GWID in the email you got from GWU that said when the admission decision will be available. The subject line was “Your application to GW”.

Password is your six-digit birthday. If you were born on February 15, 1995, it would be 021595.

Once you’re logged in, click on “Financial Aid Menu”, then click on “Award History”. If you want to see the breakdown of cost of attendance, click on “My Cost of Attendance”.
