Financial Aid!!!

I have good grades. 3.75/4.5 (4.8 scale) GPA. 33 ACT and 9 APs and 5 Honors.
I believe that I can get into good schools, but I cant afford a 50k school.

Do any of these schools offer a lot of financial aid, automatic merit scholarships or free tuition for low income students. Do you think that I can get into these schools or do you have school suggestions

-Vanderbilt
-Georgetown
-Notre Dame
-Berkeley
-Rice
-Johns Hopkins.
-USC!!!!! (important one, if I go into film)
-NYU
-UCLA

Also can I get into these schools. Any suggestions for financial aid schools!!!!!!!!

does anyone have some useful advice?

Think outside the box! The schools you are asking about are all large major schools. Look into smaller LAC’s. Alot of them have huge resources. Hamilton College has been great for us. But there are a great many opportunities out there. Good Luck!

thanks. I am interested in williams, amherst, ect. and I will probrally end up applying to mostly LACs. But do you know if USC offers good financial aid. Because Film production is something that I am interested in, and I know that UCLA, NYU doesnt offer much aid. so I am really hoping that USC does. Do you know if it does?

Your GPA is fine and ACT score is good, but you will not get much merit aid if you are looking at these highly competitive schools as you are definitely not standing out from other students. On the other hands, many top private schools like USC and Stanford have very good need based aids. Are you from California? If not, UCB would be very expensive and they don’t offer much aid to OOS.

You or your parent needs to run the Net-Price calculator. We can talk in generalities all we want about having “good” aid, but all that really matters is whether or not what a school is willing to offer you matches what your parents and family are willing and able to pay.

Arent there some schools that it doesnt matter what your grades are. If you get in and you cant pay. There are some top schools that have free tuition for low salary people.

If you are in California, you may qualify for some aid. If you are OOS, you need to take UCLA and Berkeley out of the running.

you have as good of a chance as any based on your scores to get into the schools but they probably wont offer you merit aid because everyone else applying also has great stats. having said that, many of the selective schools have great financial aid for low income students. if you get in and want to go there, most will help you make that happen

Many top private schools have very good need based aid. If your family income is below $65K, you can get almost a free ride. The question is whether you can get into those schools. Your GPA is a bit low for those schools while your ACT is around the mid range. You can definitely give them a try but the chance would not be very high.

do your homework - run the net price calculators for the schools that you like as a start to see what the potential cost would be
