Financial Aid?

I was admitted to the CGS as an ED applicant (I’m not thrilled with it but what I’m even more un-thrilled with is the financial aid!) I received 5,000 in loans and that’s it… I’m from a lower middle class family from New Jersey. I was wondering if any one else was as unsatisfied with their financial aid package as I am or if I should expect to receive any more money once I submit the FAFSA (I didn’t think I would because the CSS and the FAFSA have basically the same information.) I’m just upset because BU was my first choice and I wouldn’t mind taking out the loans if I had gotten into the College of Arts and Sciences but I’m not sure CGS is worth it.

Boston University is notoriously lousy with financial aid - that’s why people tend to steer clear of ED because its hard to bind to a school as expensive as BU without any of the comfort of knowing that BU will take care of you financially. The thing with BU is that they get so many full pay applicants that they really don’t have to make sure you can afford your education – because there’s a line of people for your spot that can.

That makes sense- it’s awful but it makes sense. I would have been okay with taking the loans and doing whatever I had to to go to BU’s College of Arts and Sciences but I really don’t want to put myself (or my family) in that spot financially just to be in CGS. And because I’m in the CGS it’s non-binding- so I don’t have to go there. It’s just a tough decision for me.

@duhitsjenna12895 - Going into debt for BU’s CAS is not a good idea and an even worse one for CGS.
