Has anyone here heard anything about financial aid or have any idea if what their packages normally look like? I am going to call on Monday but thought that I might ask to see if anyone had any info.

If your child is possibly eligible for merit scholarship based on test scores, GPA, etc., that information is laid out quite clearly on the Wright State Admissions website - if you have x test score and y GPA, you will get z scholarship. Because WSU is a state school looking to recruit “high potential” students those scholarships are pretty generous and the bar is not quite as high as at some other schools. I have no idea about talent-based aid. S applied for additional merit scholarships and received email - on WSU “Wings” site - that scholarships would be awarded “in the spring and throughout the summer” - whatever that means.

D received a small school scholarship (very high ACT, but GPA was just under the magic 3.5 (finishing homework is hard when you’re at rehearsal every night - said with heavy sarcasm from mom…!). The school wouldn’t budge, even though our school had a 92-100 scale and on a 90-100 scale she had over the 3.5. She thankfully got a talent scholarship that made tuition the “in state” rate, which made it affordable.

ERRRRGH! On the GPA - my S also found it “difficult” to keep up with homework (especially when he transferred to the “academically challenging” performing arts H.S. ) Fortunately, he did extremely well on PSAT and National Merit at WSU Is VERY generous. It may be his “Golden Ticket”.

Well our D is the opposite, she has a 3.9 but is HORRIBLE at the national tests and we have received very little in the merit thus far. When we talked with V. Oleen she stated that the talent was all gone and she could apply next year. I am hoping to see something different when our FA comes in. We really like Wright but money is a huge issue for us. Thank you for your info… we will keep hoping for something good in the mail :)

Somewhere in my notes/school communications it says that talent scholarships will go out “by April”. Not sure what that means for university at large FA. Got my fingers crossed for your D @NAtlantaStudio. The more of this program we see, the more we like.

We are taking a trip over spring break to revisit there and a couple of other schools where she was accepted but had not yet seen the campus. I know if we have not heard by then we will be stopping by FA. Ready to make a choice and start getting her excited about her college experience :)

Good luck in your travels - and decision-making. We’re all approaching the backstretch.

We didn’t find out about the talent scholarship until April. We had visited in March over spring break, she loved it & it became her first choice, but without the in state tuition it was going to be difficult for her to go - especially since there were a couple of other schools that were giving her lots of money. I have no idea how many scholarships they give through the department. Good luck to all of you - you’re in the home stretch and your kids have great options! We are headed up to see her in Les Mis next weekend, and back for Freshman Showcase 2 weeks after that, and then she’ll be home, finished with her first year. Hard to believe!!!

S received his merit and talent award letter I think two weeks ago but nothing as far as a FA package yet.
