Hi guys
I had some questions and was wondering if you guys could help me...

the out of state tuition is around 63,000 and i got a 14,000 scholarship but the tuition for me is still 50,000 which is still way to high for my family

is there anything i can do to get more money in anyway

thanks

Pepperdine is private, so it does not matter if you are out of state, or not. Be glad you got $14,000. From what I am hearing, many got nothing. I guess you can try.

Would you mind sharing your stats kingja200? Just ACT/SAT and GPA W and UW. Thank you!
Did you try appeal?

Hey! I was also thinking about an appeal, I figure it can’t hurt to try! But my “special circumstance” is not about a death in the family or any hardship. I just feel like I should have been awarded more. This whole Pepperdine forum seems pretty dead…can anybody help?

Palmtreesinia, not sure how you would appeal. I assume from your comment you were awarded some money. I’m trying to figure out how they allocated money this year. It would be helpful (and appreciated) if you wouldn’t mind sharing your stats (ACT/SAT and GPA w uw) and the amount. A friend of mine appealed for more money at another private school by making an appointment and meeting with them (not sure if it was admissions or Financial aid). It is currently in review so she isn’t sure if it was successful or not.

my stats:
27 on the ACT w/writing
top 25% of my graduating class
GPA W 3.806 UW 3.645
I am also COC and was awarded the AWP scholarship ($5,000/year) However, that is the only financial aid I received. I had heard many users say on Pepperdine’s forum how they can be very “generous” towards COC applicants. However, $5,000 doesn’t help me much when tuition is in the $60,000 range. I called the financial aid office this afternoon asking for the name of the financial aid director so I can correctly address my letter and the woman was quite rude. She said “why do you need the name of the director?!” According to their website appeals can only be made once you enroll or pay the NON-REFUNDABLE $725 enrollment fee. I find it comical that it is nonrefundable…Pepperdine is my top choice though and I am going down with a fight. It will probably be to no avail, but I am going to send in a letter of appeal anyways.

Traveltime, were you thinking of appealing? Also, what are your stats if you don’t mind me asking?

We will only appeal if she enrolls. ACT 32, GPA W 4.56 UW 4.0. Good luck!

S received Regents scholarship and we are thrilled for him as Pepperdine is one of his top two choices. Wondering whether the amount awarded was reduced this year (read elsewhere that Regents had been $26K and possibly $28K, but S awarded $22K) or if it varies by student. Would others who received it this year be willing to share their award amount? Hate to complain about such a nice honor, but the difference of $16-24K matters financially over 4 years, esp. since Pepperdine is tops in COA. Thanks so much.

D awarded Regents scholarship $41,000 a year for four years. SAT 2120 ACT 33,3.96 UW, and 4.33 W. Exceptional ECs. She is turning it down to attend Johns Hopkins.

Congratulations to your D! I am sure she will love JHU. Just to clarify, $41K was the amount in the letter announcing Regents, not your total award package?
