Financial Aid

Hi i would like to get a little help on a question i have on financial aid.
I am a freshman orange coast college and i play volleyball, and work when i can, unfortunately thats not enough. even though i grew up 3 miles from my college my parents make good money and kicked me out when i was 17.
i'm 18 now living at my friends house who is also a student on my volleyball team but he is moving from his location soon. heres where i get to the point both my parents have good paying jobs they don't give me anything is there a way for me to get financial aid so i can pay rent, go to school, pay rent, and eat with less stress let me know :)
if you can answer this asap that would be great just a lil stressed :)

oopse i said rent 2 times

? You are on college team? Who is paying your tuition now?

It’s not clear what exactly your current situation is. Are you getting any financial aid now? IF you are homeless or int the danger of so becoming you can apply for fin aid on FAFSA as an independent student. BUt all you are guaranteed is a maximum of about $5700 from PELL and $9500 from the federal government that way. The rest is up to the school I suggest you go to the fin aid office immediately and talk to an officer there to see if someone can help you out.

Are you in college now? How are your college bills being paid now?

If no one will pay your bills, you will have to do what countless others do…get a job. Go to school a class or two at a time at a community college. Get your associates degree in something that will help you get a better job…continue on until you finish college.

I don’t think this qualifies as risk of being homeless. I think that has to happen before age 18…otherwise all could claim that.

You’re at a Calif CC. Are you now paying for classes from income from a part-time job or are you taking loans?

You can’t get more money. Sorry. You’re going to have to work A LOT to support yourself. I suggest getting a job at a place that offers tuition reimbursement. Look at AT&T and similar places…they pay well and will help you with tuition costs.
