Financial Aid

My fin aid package from Brown finally arrived (after weeks and weeks of waiting!) and I am kinda confused. Why do I have student contribution from income when I have no income? Is the university work scholarship the same as getting money from working in college? What is the Sidney Scholarship?

Work scholarship is grant money that they give you for your first year. It replaces work-study, the reasoning being that you should have time to adjust to college life without having to work as well.

Well, everyone has student contribution portion because they expect you to work during summer and make enough money to contribute that much. Seriously, even if you work on minimum wage (which most likely you won't), you can make $2200 during summer. It should not be that bad. (Just my case, I gotta make a whole lot more than that because my parents are not paying for all their parent contribution). Time to be independent from parents now, I guess?
