If my college GPA is currently 2.5 and my spring semester gpa is 1.75 will i still get financial aid the following school year? Is financial aid awarded based upon averaged college gpa or gpa based upon the previous semester?
Depends on the college, they say if you’re eligible or not according to their standards, to a point. Usually the average of the year, but academic probation might kick in after a semester below 2.0. This is really something to ask your college directly.
Satisfactory Academic Progress is what you are looking to define at your school: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/eligibility/staying-eligible
This will vary somewhat by school, you should get familiar with the SAP policies of your college. That information is usually in the student handbook. Google your. College name and student ‘handbook’, or ,satisfactory academic progress’.
Ok thanks I figured that it was determine based upon overall average GPA not just one semester.
The student handbooks states that a student must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA.
