Financial Aid?

I was just accepted to Colby RD and am super excited, but haven’t received any financial aid info yet. Is it coming???

The post linked below suggests that it will be coming, based on past year’s experience, so hopefully soon:

So their automated email reply says that financial aid will be released on the portal today (the 29th). However, it’s not up for me yet or maybe I don’t know where to check–does anyone have any other information?

Actually, I just clicked on the “class of 2020 admitted students linked”, and when I scrolled down it said “your financial aid package is here”. Only when I click on the link, all it does is tell me how financial aid is calculated, not actually what I’m being offered. What? Maybe it’s because I uploaded my dad’s taxes late on the IDOC?

Is it working for anyone else?

My son was able to get his financial aid letter through the portal.

@colfac92 Is that through the same portal where he checked his admissions status? Did another button pop up or something or did he click on a tab or what?

@Ovni12 , yes I believe through the same portal, but I didn’t see him do it, so can’t comment on buttons or tabs or what not.

did your financial aid letter have a detailed breakdown of the cost of attendance? My one did not!

The financial aid letter included in the admission packet my son received in the mail was the same one that had been posted on the online portal, and did not have a detailed breakdown of the cost of attendance.

I can point you to this page, http://www.colby.edu/administration_cs/financialservices/sfs/1415feesandschedules.cfm, which tells you what the Comprehensive Fee will be for next year, $64,040. “The comprehensive fee includes tuition, room, and board. It also includes an allocation for the Student Government Association and funding for use of College health services (not including student health insurance.)” They don’t break these costs out…

I would assume the expected costs for books and supplies would be similar to what was given in the net price calculator, around $1,600. Travel costs are going to vary depend on on your location.

Note the bit about health insurance – apparently Colby requires all students to buy a health insurance policy that they have arranged for unless the student is already covered by another insurance plan (e.g. through their parents) that meets the college’s standards, in which case one can apply for a waiver. I think the cost for their policy is on the order of $1450 or so.
