Anyone know when JMU gives out their letter on Financial Aid?
thanks
I would be interested to know also
I heard prelim financial aid award letter goes out in May.
end of march
My daughter just reviewed under the Student section under MyMadison. She only received 14K in loans. I guess a 4.3 GPA and lots of EC counts for nothing.
@paulster69 I don’t even see a tab called Student Section. Did you already make a deposit?
I don’t see any student section in My Madison either or anywhere that financial info is presented/awarded.
Yes I made the deposit. I saw the financial aid summary under student tab. My daughter received 2k in work study, 5500 in federal loan and 8k in parent plus loans.
Thanks for the info. We haven’t made a decision yet so we haven’t made a deposit. We’d only get loans anyway.
lastone03: My daughter cried because she knows it is going to be hard to go to her dream school. But as a parent I will find a way. Hate seeing her so upset.
The notice in my son’s MyMadison says it may take up to 7 days to post to your account. I’m fine with waiting becuase I’m 99.99% certain there is no pot of gold at the end of that particular rainbow.
You never know. He might have better luck than my daughter.
@paulster69 We’ll see, but much like you, we’ll make it work the best we can.
@paulster69 I’m sorry. Have you explored all other outside scholarships?
Yes. My daughter has applied over 100 outside scholarships. We are hopeful but I am preparing to give her as much as I can so she can go and making sure she don’t get too many loans. I don’t want her to owe a lot coming out of the college.
I’m confused…with the financial aid notification did anyone see a merit scholarship also?
No merit scholarship seen for us. No financial aid either besides the student loan for $5,500. We withdrew the application so maybe someone on the waitlist can be offered a spot.
@paulster69, Your daughter can only borrow ~$5500/year. Can you pay the rest without borrowing? The $8k PLUS loan in her package is a parent loan. Does your daughter have any acceptances that won’t put your family over $60k in debt after 4 years?
@austinmshauri: Yes I setup my budget to try to pay the best. They also gave us a parent loan, but will not take that. My goal is keep at a loan limit under 20k after 4 yrs. She has applied for over 100 outside scholarships. I am hoping she gets one or two of thoses. Here is the summary
