Financial aid

Just wondering if anyone who was accepted early has received financial aid offer or info from SDSU.

@Aloha86: Are you an in-state or OOS student that has been accepted? In-state students should run the Net Price calculator to determine their FA estimate for now.

OOS students do not get any need-based financial aid from the Cal States so they should expect to pay full fees (Cost of attendance). If they are lucky enough to receive the Weber Honors Scholarship (usually only 10 awarded) or some of the other SDSU merit scholarships listed on their FA page, then of course OOS costs will be reduced.

I guess I didn’t word that correctly . We are OOS …I realize there will be no financial aid but for loan purposes, I need to have the paper that says the official tuition, fees etc. I am waiting for that letter. Just wondered when to expect it.

They usually post the FA after all the decisions have been posted so around March/April on the portal. No physical letter was received but then again we were full pay and opted not to take any loans.

Ok thank you!

FYI we received our SDSU Estimate of Financial Aid email today.

Was early admit. Got an email for financial aid estimate. Haven’t seen it yet.

Good to hear they sent them out early this year.

Is it common to get the financial aid email if you havent been accepted yet?

@Pennycat: The FA office is separate from admissions so yes it is possible to get emails for FA without an acceptance.

@grubbymom My D received an email today with her 2019-2020 Financial Aid Estimate. The email stated “The SDSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships has received your 2019-20 application for financial aid. Even though an admissions decision has not been made, a financial aid estimate has been provided for you on AidLink (sdsu.edu/aidlink), our secure Web site, to help you plan how to pay your college costs.”

For a quick second before reading the email she thought the email meant she was admitted.

So she waits…so hard to weight all the options when you don’t know where you’ve been admitted.
