financial aid

I don't understand how to accept the financial aid package. Under my applications it just shows the estimated offer, but not even a real one. What are you guys doing about this?

You have to go to tritonlink.ucsd.edu and then click on the financial aid link. Log in and your financial aid stuff is there.

how much UCSD grant in aid did they gave u ?

I'm getting $7,468.

dang that is a lot! i am only getting 5k from UCSD Grant In Aid...... are you low income? how many people do you have in your family?

Yeah, I'm low income. I've got three people, with two (including myself) going to college. Believe it or not, even with the UCSD grant, I'm still in need of money to pay that whopping $20k a year tuition.

i have 14789 free money offered (including ucsd grants, cal grants, all that good non-loan stuff) I declined all loans. i am gonna have to make up the rest by myself. through work study etc. you think it is possible?

Why did you decline the subsidized loans? o_o?

damn man 14789 i want that rofl

IGotIn:I'm in a similar position lyk u,n I have aroun $5k in loans,is there any way I can avoid tkn these loans.I'll be workin thru work-study.Is there an actual need to take these loans?
Also if I somehow get an external scholarship, does that replace my loans or my work-study?

is plus loan really bad? I have barely any stafford loans.

stafford loans are subsidized but there's still small interest correct?

" Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan

Annual maximums are $2,625 – freshman; $3,500 – sophomore; $5,500 junior or senior, $8,500 – graduate/professional students.

Repayment of principal and interest begins 6 months after ceasing half-time enrollment. The interest rate is fixed at 6.8%. There may be an origination fee of 2% and a default fee of up to 1% (default fee applies only to loans guaranteed on or after October 1, 2006). Lender disburses funds to UCSD. Review the Benefits & Repayment Comparison Chart to select a lender from among UCSD’s preferred lenders or other approved lenders. Find out how to borrow your Stafford Loan."

like most people i was offered 2625 for stafford loan-subsidized. im just trying to avoid interests.

I am not going to take ANY loans..... i am going to work during the summer and pay it off....

it is easier and faster..... and cheaper too because you don't have to pay any interest rate ( 0% interest rate ).........whereas you have to pay amazingly high interest rates when you borrow loans...

yep same here.

What interest rates do the subsidized loans offer? The unsubsidized ones are expensive...

I got $7549 for Grant In Aid. With all my scholarships and pell grant etc I only need $1000, which my parents will just pay, but we are still doing the loans, because just because you accept them, does not mean you HAVE to use them, and you never know what is going to come up in the next year.

the subsidized are 2% if i remember correctly. i'll check again later.

how come you guys get so much for grant in aid? i only got $1442.

If you can get subsidized loans, you should take them even if you don't need them. CDs are offering about 6% now.
