Financial aid

I'll be paying for school 100% through financial aid and was wondering how exactly are my funds disbursed...I know how much money I should expect per quarter (via OFAS), but seeing that disbursment 'begins' September 18, I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to get my textbooks. I'm using EFT, so how long should I expect to wait on average for the rest of my aid? My CC would allow students to use their ID cards as a type of bookstore debit card before remaining aid becomes disbursed. Does UCI do something like this?

Can some of you current UCI students give me a rundown of what happens? Thanks. :)

Edit: Almost forgot to ask...Do I have to worry about anything since my fees are paid automatically? There's no extra paperwork or other school fees that I'll have to pay later?

When all of your grants, scholarships and loans are confirmed or accepted and you've accepted your awards, then after you have registered for 12 units or more, your fees will be paid automatically, go to your zot account and see how much have been paid and how much left they will give u for this fall. Don't worry about the books because if they transfer money to your bank account on the 18th of sept then you still have 4 days before school starts to get your books. Usually on the first day you will know what books you need so I guess they don't expect you to have your books on the first day of class, but still you have 4 days to get them. And once you get money transfered to your bank account, you are responsible for Housing payments which are due 3 times a yr, once per quarter. the deadline for the fall quarter is october something i think. Also, if you have a sibling who will be attending college this fall then make sure you turn in a verification form before OCT 2nd. The last thing is the health forms. If you've turned everything in then you should be good. hope that helps.

That helps a whoooooole lot. Thank you! :D

Wait, you have to be enrolled in 12 units to get the funds via EFT? I thought you had to enroll in a minimum of 6 units to get the funds.

I registered for classes, but am on the waitlist for Humanities Core 1A S/A Lecture and Discussion. I have successfully enrolled in 8 units, but I have an additional 10 units (The Humanities Core) on waitlist. To the best of my knowledge, the waitlisted units don't really count, since you I am not actually enrolled in the class yet.

Does this mean that my funds will be held until I successfully get enrolled in 12 units?

For Cal Grant, I know that you have to be enrolled in at least 6 units, but for Pell Grant, here is what it says

Federal Pell Grant award is based on the assumption that you will be a full-time student. If you enroll for less than 12 units, as of the 6th week of the quarter, you will have your Federal Pell Grant quarter award reduced as follows:

9.0 - 11.9 units will receive three-fourths of the Federal Pell Grant;
6.0 - 8.9 units will receive one-half of the Federal Pell Grant;
1.0 - 5.9 units will have your Federal Pell Grant prorated.
