Financial aid

Which UC offers the best financial aid package? I’m an out-of-stater, so will that effect the amount of financial aid money that will be offered to me, or is residency not a factor for financial aid packages? With all the budget cuts that the UCs (and the state of California as a whole) have been facing, is a full-ride virtually impossible?

I'm assuming you're still in HS. If so, income planning and asset repositioning are first on your family's list to "qualify" for maximum financial aid. Getting it is another issue. Unless you're the next Dan Marino, Bobby Fischer, Tiger Woods, or Albert Einstein, and living in a VW Bus, a free ride is out of the question!

Let's put it this way: I'm considered low-income (and OOS) with an EFC between 0 and about 4,000 dollars.

My parents still need to pay 32k out of their own pockets.
