Hello,

When I was applying here (EA), I was going to apply for Financial Aid, but my parents were convinced that we could not qualify, so I ended up not applying. However, I got in, and now they are saying we should have applied for aid in the hopes of getting at least something.

I realize the deadlines have long passed, but (I heard Caltech is not that strict about them) can I still turn the papers in, or will they not be accepted (which will probably end up happening)?

You should call and ask. I know other schools definitely allow financial aid applications after you get in, since some people avoid applying for it based on the (baseless) fear that need for aid influences admissions decisons.

Caltech will generally be pretty helpful about financial aid issues, but you should call someone at the FinAid office as soon as possible, because they're on schedules too. I've had a few funding tangles that they were happy to give my family some extra time on. You might already be out of time for some government stuff, but like all private schools, Tech has extra money they can tap for people they like, and if you got in, they like you.
