Financial aid

I’m considering applying to Bentley though I realize that it’s an expensive school. Thus, I’m wondering how good the school is at providing financial aid. If anyone familiar with the process knows, please let me know!

My son applied 2 years ago. I just checked and they meet an average of 93% of financial need. They offer 14% an average of 11,968 in merit scholarships. These numbers apply to freshmen. That said, my son was offered a merit award, but no additional financial aid. It was too expensive for our family. I found that a school that meets 85% of financial need on average, offered our son a package that made that private school much more affordable (and that was FA only). My son chose an OOS public U, which was one of the least expensive options for us 2 years ago. Public Us have since gone up, so a private school might look more attractive if we were applying today.

A lot of the people I have talked to have some sort of scholarship or financial aid. But if you do get a merit scholarship, I don't think they give you any other aid. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of need do you have?

Well you should, if for example, your efc is 9k and the school is over 40k, and you get say 10-11k in merit $$. The gap would be huge any other way. I'll tell you that a profile school meeting an of 85% need had us paying a solid 4k (and that is a very conservative estimate) less than Bentley. That school was not less competitive than Bentley.

Still apply. I was VERY surprised with my package. Remember the less money you have the more money the school will give you. It may even be cheaper to attend Bentley than state school in the end. They are very generous when it comes to aid. Do not make money a reason not to apply.
