Barnard does offer need-based aid and they will meet all of that "need" with grants and/or work-study and loans. Of course, they will determine what your family's need is based upon their income, etc (lots of info to provide on a yearly basis to renew fin. aid!). You can find various calculators online to get a broad feel for where you would fall...hopefully, you can get your parents to help you with this. They take into consideration such things as other siblings at home/in college and we have found it to be bearable, though certainly not easy.

They do not offer merit scholarships.

I suggest you check out their financial aid section on the Barnard website. IT's pretty complete.

Best to you!

While they don't accept merit scholarships, they don't remove any of your financial aid if you receive outside merit scholarships, which is really nice. I've heard that other schools remove some of their financial aid if you recieve a scholarship, but Barnard added it to my grant money and then offered to reduce my loans IF I wanted to. You can make it work. It may be tough, but it will all work out. I would suggest focusing on your app right now and then worrying about money once you get in.

Good point, bad1017. There are sources online where you can research outside scholarships....apply to as many as you can mangae! Barnard will reduce loans and workstudy BEFORE reducing any grants they have given you if you receive any outside scholarship money.
